The plates are sturdy enough that my 5-year-old can press them into clay without them bending, and the animal textures come through super clear. We've used them with both play-dough and paint, and the lion's mane is the favorite so far.
My toddler grabbed these as soon as the box opened, and the bumpy animal textures press into clay beautifully. It's a simple setup that keeps her busy and quietly focused for a good twenty minutes, which feels like a win for fine motor practice.
