My daughter calls this her quiet cave and disappears into it after school with a book. The seating area is actually cushioned enough that she'll stay put for half an hour, which never happens anywhere else.
The semi-enclosed curve makes it feel tucked away without boxing a kid in, and my son actually settles down in it instead of wandering during quiet time. The seat cushion is soft enough that he'll stay put for a whole picture book now.
My daughter actually asks to sit in it when she needs to calm down after a busy day. The curved shape gives her that little sense of privacy without me losing sight of her, and the seat itself is comfy enough that she'll stay put for a while.
